Piedmont Design Associates, P.A. is a full service Civil Engineering, Land Surveying and Planning firm located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We changed our name from B.K. Barringer & Associates, P.A. effective January 1, 2002. We have been providing quality professional services to our clients since 1989.
Piedmont Design Associates, P.A. is a full service Civil Engineering, Land Surveying and Planning firm located in Mooresville, North Carolina. B.K. Barringer, Jr., a registered professional engineer, founded the firm in 1988 as a sole proprietorship providing land planning, civil engineering and utility design services in the Mooresville-South Iredell area. In 1989 the firm incorporated and changed its name to B.K. Barringer & Associates, PA. The firm grew over the next several years basing most of its activities on civil engineering of site and subdivision projects located in the Charlotte Region. In 1998, the firm was purchased by Donald L. Munday, P.E., an associate engineer with the firm, and expanded its services to include surveying. As of January 2002, the company was renamed Piedmont Design Associates, P.A. At that time, the firm expanded its surveying services in order to provide complete surveying, planning and civil engineering services to its land development clients. The firm now has the capability to take a project from the initial due diligence and planning stages through the engineering design stage to construction surveying and management.
The firm is fully automated using the latest advances in CAD software. The ability to share electronic data and documentation with other project professionals permits quick and effective resolution to most project situations. Specifically, the firm uses ACAD custom tailored with a variety of affiliated software including Civil 3D to provide maximum performance and productivity for civil design, planning and surveying projects. All project activities are tracked by database allowing an accurate evaluation of all projects.
Completing a project successfully in today’s regulatory environment requires more than just site planning, road and utility design services. It takes a team that is aware of the “red flags” that can appear during a project, and have the expertise to address the complex web of regulatory issues that are presented. Piedmont Design Associates has grown to understand the regulatory environment and strives to address critical issues prior to their impact on a project. A clear understanding of our client’s goals for a given site is translated into a comprehensive plan that addresses all project issues. Piedmont Design Associates’ goal is to respond to project issues early with creative, innovative and adaptive approaches.

Our obligation to our clients is to represent their best interest during each stage of a project whether it is in the due diligence and design stages or the construction stage of a project.
It is our job to keep our client informed of all considerations affecting the project. Select outside consultants are used as necessary to ensure that our client receives professional design services custom tailored to the demands of the project.
